The Call & The Cause
The appeal and why. The prophets have been called to assignments, most of them called by God.
Each of them experiences an encounter with the Spirit of the Lord. Moses and the burning bush, Abraham left his homeland.
Jesse's youngest son, that very David, was anointed by the Prophet Samuel.
That same David meets Goliath of Gath, a Philistine who leads a battle against the children of Israel. David's father sent him down to check on his brothers to see how they were doing when they were in the heat of the battle with Goliath, along with the armies of Israel.
David took up the battle to bring food to his brothers and to let his father know how things were going with his brothers.
• David approaches the battlefield; he encounters his brothers, who want to know who called David to come down into the battle.
• I want to point out that David was there at the request of his father, Jesse, and that his brother presumes that he is there with ill intentions.
• As prophets, Gods send us to locations where people can question our presence. However, when the Father sends us, God defines the purpose and never allows the outside voices to challenge our presence; as representatives of the Lord, we must remain focused on the assignment of the Father.
